Strategic Vision for Bilateral and Continental Cooperation
On the sidelines of the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), to be held in Algiers from September 4–10, the Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Algeria, H.E. Iman S. Njalikai, outlined a strategic vision for strengthening cooperation between Tanzania, Algeria, and the wider African continent. He recalled the historic foundations of Tanzanian-Algerian relations, dating back to the 1960s, and emphasized the shared determination to translate political goodwill into concrete economic gains. This includes launching a Tanzania–Algeria Joint Business Council and advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agenda.
Strengthening Tanzania–Algeria Economic Ties
Relations between Tanzania and Algeria were reinforced during the 5th Joint Cooperation Commission in August 2023, where both countries signed an agreement establishing the Tanzania–Algeria Joint Business Council. The Council will be officially launched during IATF 2025, creating a structured platform to deepen commercial cooperation and transform strong political ties into tangible economic outcomes.
Leveraging AfCFTA for Growth
Ambassador Njalikai underlined the strategic importance of AfCFTA in unlocking opportunities across key sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, technology, construction, finance, transportation, and special economic zones. Tanzania’s location—boasting the longest coastline in East Africa and serving as a gateway to East, Central, and Southern Africa—positions it as an ideal trade and investment hub for the continent.
Invitation to Discover Tanzania as a Premier Tourism Destination
Beyond its economic potential, the Ambassador extended a warm invitation to Algerian and African visitors to explore Tanzania’s world-class tourism offerings. From the iconic Serengeti National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro to the pristine beaches of Zanzibar, Tanzania offers a blend of natural wonders, cultural heritage, and luxury hospitality. He noted that the country is perfectly suited for both business travelers seeking high-end conference and leisure facilities, and families looking for unforgettable holiday experiences.
